The 2nd Phase of adding a 2nd floor.
Here you will see another segment of construction. Now we begin the building of the stairwell and rooms. The stuccoing has begun and will be done in phases as the electrical and plumbing rough is completed.
Two languages trying to understand the other sometimes falls through the cracks. In India you do not need a blueprint or a building permit to build. You just build from whatever is available to provide the builder with any kind of drawing. So we have made a layout of the new 2nd floor on a spreadsheet Xcel form. We had used 3" equals one square. I had thought we had an understanding. When Joe got to Medan he had pulled up his email and saw new pictures of the walls. over 40' of 3 foot high walls were started, double brick wide. I immediately wrote an email for him to stop. Fortunately we were in the same time zone and he was at his computer. I asked him to stop building anything until I got there which was to be in another two weeks after doing his stop in Indonesia.
When Joe arrived, he immediately met with the brick layer and began to find out that he did not believe that a wall could but built of brick on the 3.5 foot overhang and began to build the wall under the beams between columns. The following day after her went and talked to others, he conceded I was right and so I began trying to work with what they had built and what we wanted to be built. By the time Joe returned home he found out that the walls could be built on the outer edge of the floor, not just a 3 foot high wall like is along the front of the front veranda overlooking the street.
Joe had to redraw all the drawings for the bathrooms had changed for the kid's room and the visitor's room. We worked through all the tear-outs and rebuilds and the final walls for the kitchen are not completed.
We began building the entry door at the head of the stairs with the decorated door frame and front window.
Then next is the visitor's room where not only Joe but other visitors can stay while volunteering or helping with the kids. It will have a single bed and a computer desk along with a modern bathroom with sink, toilet, and shower that is off of the sleeping area.
Then the next rooms were the kid's bathroom and bedroom. We finally were on the same level of understanding that one square equaled 3". So from then on, the walls went up as per what the new drawing was showing. The "Parents room was the next room to be worked on which shares the wall with the kitchen.
So finally the kitchen is completed and we are now ready for the rough electrical. We hope that the drawing and a spec sheet noting every light switch, light fixture, and outlet will be placed in the right places. When the funds are enough to complete the plumbing rough we will begin to complete it after the updated drawings and the spec sheet is completed.

Project Mercy & Grace Children's Home

Children in line for a meal.
Location: Vijayawada, South India
Mercy and Grace Children's Home is approximately 40 Klms from the airport in Vijayawada. You can locate the general area by using Google Earth to see where in the world it is. It is on approximately 2/3 of an acre. It is a 3 story building in an "L" shape. They have had as many as 150 children at one time and presently have 126 children. They had to transfer some of the children to a government orphanage of some kind because of financial support had slowed down in December of 2011.
We at Compassion 4 Kids International, Inc. (C4KII) have been in communication with them for approximately 1 year (Feb 2012) and seeking God's will to seek you out to help support not only C4KII in what we are already supporting but also to help support Mercy & Grace with a portion of the collective support we receive when we are able to. Read more by clicking on Project Mercy & Grace.
We do not know what the Lord has in store for us in helping Mercy & Grace but we wanted to present to all of you searching for a charity that does need support to continuing helping Street Children. In December of 2012, Mercy & Grace had to ask the government to take 50 children because of the financial crisis they were going through. We hope that they will get good treatment while they are with the government facility.
Now we want to get involved, with your help, to alleviate some of their financial needs and more. We have learned they are lacking in a number of areas of need. See our webpage for helping them by clicking on Project Mercy & Grace Needs.

Conducting a Bible Study
In India I was asked to do a number of Bible Studies. Some of them were in churches with up to 300 adults and children sitting on the floor for about an hour or more. Some had waited over an hour as we were late in getting to the church.
To the left is a sequence of a Bible study in the back yard patio. After I completed the study, a Hindu woman came forward to ask Jesus to become her personal savior. After the prayer they brought out a special sweet treat for all to enjoy. There were about 70 people in the audience.
