These are a couple of pictures that I took traveling a different route.
They have modern food courts with American food (most airports) or a choice of other ethnic food choices.
Upstairs is the first waiting room. In the background are the desks where you purchase your boat tickets to Batam Island. Behind the chairs, which I did not take a picture is the initial check-in for the large baggage.
This is their new modern exit area to the fast boats.
This enclosed "fast boat" goes from Singapore to Batam in 1 hour or less. Once in Batam, Indonesia, you go to the payment office for your visa. Once you pay their fee, then you go to the next office window to get the visa affixed to your passport and also stamped for entry.
Here is a view of the boat dock after we were coming into Batam. There are 5 different companies that pull up to the reception hall coming from Singapore.
