Cikal Starting

In March 2006, Joe visited the housing area where Cikal Hope for Children was going to be born. The above house was going to be vacated by the within a few months and the thoughts of our first orphanage was rattling around in my head. Within 6 months the house was sold to the Tobingings and a couple months later we sent the funds to lease the house for a minimum of 10 years.

It was not like your home with running water, or a kitchen with a refrigerator and stove, or a bathroom with clean running water for a toilet and a tub or shower. It did have a well in the back room that had to be boiled for drinking and cooking. The toilet was outside with 3 walls and no door.

So we began to solicit support and in February 2008 we began the remodel of the house to make it livable for 4 children that was brought to us 2 day prior to us starting the remodel. Now is the time for a lot of special people that understand the plight of a street child, an orphan. If you love children and hate to see a child placed into a cesspool of degradation, and with a gift to take them out of despair, your support will do just that.

A street child has the social status of less than the sole of a shoe, literally. They are who they are and no one of any social status respects them to be anything but ...... a non-being. They have the clothes upon their back and maybe shoes upon their feet. They may have one or sometimes two meals a day of rice. The cannot go to school or ask for medical attention. Up to 15% of the children will die before they are 15 years old. They take baths in the polluted streams and hope to have clean water to drink. They spend up to 12 hours per day selling water, snacks, toys, or whatever their boss wants them to sell so they can have some kind of protection and food to eat.

Many boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 12 are forced into prostitution, or taken advantage of by pedophiles. Some are sold into the human slave markets in some parts of Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and other surrounding countries.

Cikal Hope for Children will give them safety, love, caring, let alone shelter, food, clothing, education, and medical care.
