Cikal Hope for Children opened their doors to children on February 11, 2008. These children need you support, here is one of them that you can specifically support.

Junita Silaban will be 15 years old in June 2008. She is finishing up 8th grade and going into 9th grade. As you see, she has a sweet smile and has fun playing with you.

One of the days that Joe Burke was there, the younger two finished their breakfast and before they leave they take your right and in their right hand and bow a little and touch your hand to their forehead.  So when Era took may hand to her forehead, I pushed it into her forehead and chuckled as I did it. Era laughed as she continued out the door. So when it came time for Junita to go, she took my right hand and took it up to her forehead and then she pulled it hard as it hit her forehead. She laughed as she let my hand drop and out the door she went.

Before coming to the Cikal Home, she got her siblings out of bed, bathed and off for school every morning. When they came home she was required to cook their afternoon meal. It was the only one they received and it consisted of rice only. No vegetables or meat were used. With her short stay prior to Joe leaving, she helped clean the Cikal House without being asked, she helped clear the dirty dishes off of the table and helped with washing they dishes.

She is available to be sponsored specifically by someone like you. The support would be for US$50 per month and if you would help support her for secondary education, you are asked to make a minimum additional support of $65 per month. The extra amount will be set aside for specifically helping Junita go to a community type college, trade school, or start into a university.

Junita will be taught English so she will be able to read, write, and converse in English by the time she is 16 years old. You will be able to write her emails and also you can set up a time to chat online.

We hope to have video webcam set up in the near future when we receive enough support to purchase and install the webcam.
