Compassion 4 Kids International, Inc. The Board of Directors for Compassion 4 Kids International are supporting Cikal Hope for Children so that they will be able to give orphans and street kids a home where they will be safe and able to have a childhood, just like you give your children. Here is your introduction to the current members:
Joseph Burke and N Jean Burke: Director Joseph Burke, CEO, President Being married since 1962, it is a milestone of their character because they believe in working through all problems, no matter how insurmountable they may seem to be at the time. Joseph Burke began going to the Mentawai Islands to help with medical clinics, even though he was not a doctor, nurse, or a paramedic beginning in March 2000. He has been helping with medical clinics where up to 15% of the children die before they are 15 years old. He had a burden for helping children that lost their parents do to diseases but then the tsunami and 9.1 earthquake too place. His burden to help these children multiplied.
In March 2005 Joe returned to Indonesia 5 months after having 2 heart attacks in 6 days and having 3 stents put in the vessels around the heart. He had to do something to help the children of that catastrophic tsunami that hit the west end of Sumatra. He went to the island of Nias for 10 days. After leaving Nias he spent two days in Medan where he took 2 very ill people (1-30 yr old lady and 1-8 month old boy) to the Catholic hospital. While he was there and having refreshments at a street-side restaurant, small children came up to him, a number of them. Joe asked the interpreter who these children were. Were they sent by parents to help raise money for food? "Most of them are children without parents. They are either orphans or they are throw away kids that parents do not have the money to support them," was the answer. When Joe returned to the USA he did an internet search for "Indonesian Street Kids" and that give Joe the push he needed to start working on getting the corporation to recognized as a charity. The award letter was signed on December 15, 2006. Joe and his wife, Jean, have been working with children for over 30 years and would love to have you join them in continuing to help even more children. A child's smile is priceless, and when you support a child, you bring a forever smile within the heart of that child. Join with Joe in reaching out to one child at a time. supporthekids@compassion-4-kids-int.org
Jason Muccino Director Jason Muccino oversees the education of the children at the Cikal Hope for Children. Jason has taught instrumental music in Hackensack, New Jersey for the past 10 years. From 2007-2008, he will be teaching in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Jason has traveled throughout Europe with students on musical tours. He has also visited and taught in various schools throughout Asia, including Japan, China, Thailand, and Nepal. Jason has also worked for a short time with children in Ecuador and Costa Rica, teaching them English. His latest trip to Nepal made him realize how much more fortunate his students are back home compared with many places in the world. He decided that he needed to do something to help these children who simply cannot help themselves.
As the Director of Education Jason will oversee curriculum and learning goals for the children and also for all staff members working at the home for children. He will implement the teaching curriculum to also teach English to not only the children, but also the staff. This will enable the children to obtain better educational prospects for secondary education and to help them get better paying jobs and vocations after graduating from high school. Many jobs in the Indonesian economy use English in their interchange of business on the world market. So the better English a young adult knows, the higher the wage or salary that they will be able to earn. Non-English speaking jobs, if there are any for a graduate, is not more that $60 per month. So now you can get involved, probably not as a director, but as a person that will support reaching out to children. No matter where a child lives, they do not deserve slavery or child manipulation, just to live. Help support Compassion 4 Kids International, Inc. and take a child out of prostitution, being pimped, or manipulated by pedophiles. Contact us by sending an email asking how you can help. supporthekids@compassion-4-kids-int.org
Director Angela Tobing is the Director contact in Indonesia Angela Tobing is the CEO and President of Cikal Hope for Children. Angela Tobing responded to the request to help in building a home for street children. Angela did not think very long and within a couple of weeks had advised Joseph Burke that she would help him in reaching out to children that have no hope of a childhood or a respectable adult life. After sharing this with her father, her father gave permission to use the property behind his house to begin a home for children. You can also join Angela and reach out to children and provide a safe shelter, provide food, make sure they receive a good education, and will have great medical care up to when they turn 18 years of age, or even into a college or secondary school. When in Stabat in February 2006, Joe was invited by Angela Tobing to go to the school that she taught at. She taught in the Kindergarten room with 13 children and one assistant helping.
Angela, on the back row - left, was also on the island of Nias with Joe and she remained behind to be with a nurse and her daughter from Hawaii, and Paul Petty from Evergreen, Colorado. All of them were to stay an additional week of medical clinics when on Monday night March 28, 2005 at 11:59 a 9.1 earthquake hit. She was on the island of Nias during a 9.1 earthquake that happened on March 28, 2005. After returning to Stabat she formed a foundation and began Cikal Hope for Children Indonesia. A year later she applied and was accepted as a school teacher at a school. The school head master made the decision that Joe was a welcomed guest and they would be honored if Joe would pose for a picture with each class. So Angela and Joe had their picture taken with Angela's class and then went from room to room with the head master taking these precious pictures. supporthekids@compassion-4-kids-int.org
